Etsy Rules!

This is my official apology for lack lack of posts in the coming weeks. Finals week in approaching and the work I have been putting off for eight weeks is piling up. Just know that the genius posts will be coming after December 9th when that last final is turned in!

That said, I am still finding time to compile shopping carts full of all the things I need to own and dream to afford. Since I just moved out for the first time in September, I have embarked on the never ending journey of finding stuff to decorate every possible square inch my tiny 10'x10' room in Westwood. I always turn to Etsy to find cool decor for my room/body and I inevitably find way more than I was looking for. Basically, I have compiled a list of six things I absolutely need in my life from some of my favorite Etsy shops.

1) I am constantly looking for wall art and fell in love with this print from Inaluxe.

My room is decorated pretty minimally because it is such a small space and I didn't want any sort of clutter. Since all my furniture is mostly white and light wood these colors would add a necessary amount of pizazz ($35).

Check it out here.

2) This desk clock by Vector Cloud would be so perfect for my bedside table and it has a clear back with a slot for loose change... genius.

I would buy this clock strictly based on looks but it is also eco friendly... I guess that's cool too ($59).

Check it out here.

3) I have been looking for a laptop case that is cool and practical for probably three years and I think my search is over! This one is by rib & hull.

I cannot even express how bad I have needed a case to bring my laptop to class with me. I have put up with a bulky awkward fitting shoulder bag for a while now so when I saw this one it was pretty much magic ($60).

Check it out here.

4) I have seen a ton of people wearing turquoise lately and I was never super into it until I saw this bad boy by Dollybird Design.

I love how huge this ring is and as a self-proclaimed minimalist I'm always looking for one piece of jewelry that will get the job done ($165).

Check it out here.

5) This Laura Lombardi necklace is so simple and awesome I can picture it going with almost every outfit I have up my sleeve.

My wardrobe mostly consists of black with splashes of gray now and then so I think this will help to break up the monotony a little bit ($46).

Check it out here.

6) I am very particular when it comes to leather bags and this one by Opelle Creative isn't full of unnecessary buckles and hardware which I love.

This shop has a lot of really cute clutches and other shoulder bags but I liked this one for its size and simple but not boring quality ($238).

Check it out here.

Rainy Day, Sunshine Girl

The rainy season can be tough without the right gear. And finding things that are cute and functional is not usually an easy task. So I am daydreaming and making lists.

I always hated rain boots. I guess I just always imagined wearing Docs instead. As a kid in California I didn't have to worry much about the weather. And I had only been in the snow once before I moved here. I am still getting used to it.

These Loeffler Randall's are my dream rain boot. I think they would look even better beat up. Maybe I will get them before Hot Face goes up to B.C. in December.

This Bodkin sweater was on my list for awhile. It would be extra cozy with a ton of layers. I haven't been buying much of anything lately. Let alone anything that is not black. I want start adding more neutrals and grays to my daily wardrobe. Black has just become my easy uniform because it always looks good.

The best part about finding a trench is you can easily thrift for a day and find a nice one. I do like the color of this one by Paul and Alice. But, it's nice when you realize you don't have to spend more then 10 dollars for one (this one is $345)I officially love Sock Dreams. No, I am not going to buy their rainbow toe socks, but someone will. They have an amazing selection of knee high and thigh high babies and they are located in Portland. I just bought the pair above the other day along with my friend Arian.
Socks in action. Obviously they hate pants.

Whoa! I just got a package with a Scout shirt I have been wanting two years! Has it been that long? Shit. It's amazing. Thanks Valentine! Going out thrifting now. I am going to style a series of shoots with my friend Paris..gotta stock up, baby!

Black Summer Tape Release Party

So, I am in an art collective. And, I live in Portland. Yes, it sounds a little hippy-ish. I am okay with it because I am SO lucky to have found this group of people. Each one is an amazing artist, musician, best friend, etc etc.

The other night we had an event at the amazing home/gallery of Laura&Aaron, Salome.

Just a few random pictures from the night. You can check out everyone's songs over on our website and you can pick up a copy of the tape!

In the Beginning..

02//2010 Together at the Shop E.P.I.C opening

I guess we have to start somewhere. Lauren and I live in two different cities. I currently reside in Portland, Or. Lauren is studying over at UCLA. Last night we talked and decided to start a blog dedicated to our addictions.

I was sitting at a bar today with one of my roommates who attends PNCA. We were talking, in general, about our upcoming projects and he asked..Why are you doing it? What is the real reason? And, if it ONLY affects you then why share? Of course he said it in the most positive way. So, I applied that conversation to Realm&Reason. And I definitely questioned myself. There are already a million blogs online. Why add another?

I feel I can speak for both of us by saying that over the past year or two our lives (separately) have become extremely hectic. So for us, fashion is our escape. It is something we both wish we could spend more time (and money!) on, but sometimes it gets pushed to the side. This is our getaway. And, it's always nice to share because even though there ARE a million blogs out there, we find the need to connect, collaborate and meet others with the same interests as us. So, this is it.
