Money, Money

I need this dress! Well, basically I need a sugar daddy. Maybe I will try my hand at sewing something similar? We'll see. I have some time before school starts to take on a few more projects.

I LOVE MEN!

Lately I feel like I get most of my fashion inspiration from menswear. So, I was excited to see so many amazing pieces the past few days!

Acne was my favorite for color. It was so rich and warm. I definitely look for color to add to my normal all black ensembles. I feel the need to constantly challenge my boring everyday attire. But, my favorite piece from the collection was this grey coat. Lately the I have been opting for longer length coats and this one hits at the perfect spot.

I wanted to try and describe this collection (and most other Ann D collections) but, I hate the word edgy. I feel like a grandma when I use it. "Oooh, yes! Those punk rockers are so edgy." Anyway, for me Ann Demeulemeester is spot on. I wish I could have every piece in my closet. It can be unisex, it is made beautifully and somehow it is classic while still being on point with current trends. Which is a feat in itself. LOOVE.

Acne, Ann and now Alexander. I have been trying out reds like this over the past year so I am excited to see them done so well. My red and black combination leaves me feeling cheesy sometimes. I DON'T WORK AT HOT TOPIC, PROMISE! But, this is a perfect example of warm colors for menswear that I can get true inspiration from.

Raf Simons. Definitely my next (and easiest) D.I.Y. project. Goodbye mundane black coat!

Badass

I found this LIFE magazine cover at a flea market off of Melrose on Sunday. It is clearly showcasing the majesty and all around badass-ness that is Joan of Arc, one of my all time favorite women of history. I can't wait to frame this puppy!

And now a look from A.F. Vandevorst Spring 2011 RTW inspired by armor, not unlike what Ms. of Arc would have worn:

Less is More

I found this coffee table book (to add to my growing collection) at a bookstore in Los Feliz and I fell in love! This one caught my eye in particular because I love minimalist fashion and this provided plenty of eye candy... mmm

On that note, I wanted to share a couple looks from two of my favorite minimalist labels:

Dries Van Noten Spring 2011

Celine Fall 2010

This is what dreams are made of...

My dream outfit... Acne dress, Acne blazer, and wedges by A Detacher. Now just add some sheer black tights and we're in business. Acne can do no wrong. Period.

All three of these items are on sale and I might have to max out my credit card (again) to get at least one.

Until next time...

ampersand as apostrophe

If there was a GOD I would have a badass (well paying) job. But, since there is not I will just stare at these online or at Nationale.

CHECK 'EM OUT

Also, We are playing a show tonight. I can't think of a single thing to wear. Maybe I will just go naked.

can't sleep

I have really been focusing on video lately. It's basically all I can think about so I am happy when I coming across fashion based videos that inspire me.

RORY MANNING, shot in LONDON from McQ on Vimeo.

I had never really seen Rory Manning before I came across this video awhile ago. But, she is so awkward and perfectly vulnerable in this Alexander McQueen video. I hope that she does more projects like this.

vanessabruno-Day For Night from presse vanessabruno on Vimeo.

I am definitely a member of the Lou Doillon fan club. I always thought I loved Charlotte more. It's a tough battle. Especially with videos like this.

Haiku Magazine #2

Couldn't get an embed link, but it's totally worth your time to check it out (especially if you are just sitting on Facebook). Tranoi Magazine is my new favorite. Look at their film section and zone out for hours. Oh, and, Haiku? Amazing! I want that camera.
